FAQs

Do you accept my insurance?

After careful consideration I’ve decided not to participate with insurance panels and cannot bill them directly on your behalf. I am considered an out-of-network provider. I can provide you with a super-bill that allows you to file for out-of-network reimbursement with your specific provider. All my clients simply pay me directly, and then any reimbursement from the insurance company would be between you and your insurance company versus between me and the insurance company. Out-of-network benefits vary widely based on provider and policy details. Please refer to the customer service number on the back of your insurance card to inquire about the specifics of your coverage. HSA cards are accepted and often the cost for sessions will count towards your deductible.

Why don't you take insurance?

I understand this can be frustrating and sometimes a barrier to getting services. I have chosen not to be an in-network provider because this allows me, the professional, along with you, the client, to be in charge of your treatment. Most insurance companies require a diagnosis to cover any portion of counseling, which will remain on your medical record indefinitely. They will also control the number, length, and frequency of your sessions, all of which should be decided by you and your counselor. Forcing me to diagnose you unnecessarily or release your private medical information to a third-party is unfair and unacceptable in my book. I do offer sliding scale spots when available to aid those with financial stress to still be able to seek treatment. If you're interested in seeking a sliding scale spot, please contact me and we can discuss your options.

How much does it cost?

As mentioned above, I currently do not accept insurance directly and therefore all my clients choose to private pay. My current rates are as follows:

90-minute initial intake session: $250

50-minute standard session: $175

I do adjust my rates from time to time based on my continued growth in the profession, acquisition of new specialties and training, and overall inflation of business expenses. Again, I do offer services on a sliding scale. Those who cannot afford to pay the full fee but are interested in working with me and highly invested in treatment, please message me to inquire about availability for a sliding scale spot.

Do I really need to come to therapy?

Honestly... anyone can benefit from therapy. Nothing needs to be specifically "wrong" in order to benefit from treatment. In fact, some of my most successful clients are those who are still functioning relatively well in their daily lives, however they feel lost, unsatisfied, or they just know things could be better. Whether it's family issues, work stress, depressed feelings, or constant arguing with a partner, having a safe space to get some unbiased feedback can be one of the most beneficial experiences for us as we navigate life.

How often do I need to come?

Whenever I start with a new client, we usually meet weekly or every other week, depending on what's realistic for your schedule and budget. Meeting any less frequently than that from the start typically isn't an effective use of your time and money. We're building a relationship between the two of us; that takes times and consistency. So I recommend weekly or bi-weekly sessions at first. Then we will eventually wean down over time as you reach your treatment goals and objectives.

Where are you located?

The address to my office is 2802 East Milton Avenue, Suite 100, Youngsville, LA 70592. It's just behind the Agave Cantina in Sugar Mill Pond on Route 92. If you do not live in the greater Lafayette area, but are still interested in working with me, I do offer telehealth services for those residing within the state of Louisiana. I have a secure platform that I can utilize to offer sessions via video conference if that interests you.
